وأشار أناستاسيادس، إلى الاستطلاعات البحثية لتركيا عن النفط والغاز الطبيعي قبالة قبرص، وهي الإجراءات التي يعتبرها الاتحاد الأوروبي غير قانونية لأنها تنتهك المنطقة الاقتصادية الخالصة للجزيرة.
وأضاف، “إما أن تلتزم تركيا بشروط وأحكام الانضمام إلى الاتحاد الأوروبي وإما فلن يكونوا مرشحين مقبولين”.
وتابع، أن قبرص تؤيد انضمام تركيا إلى الاتحاد الأوروبي، “لأننا نطمح أن يكون لدينا جارة أوروبية بدلاً من أن تكون دولة تتصرف بعدوانية”.
