“نقدم للعالم ما يمكن اعتباره أكروبوليس من السفن الغارقة”، علق محافظ منطقة ثيسالي اليونانية عند افتتاح أول متحف تحت الماء في اليونان، وهو عبارة عن حطام سفينة تاريخية غرقت في عام 450 قبل الميلاد قبالة سواحل جزيرة ألونيسوس في غرب بحر إيجه.
السفينة تعتبرها اليونان كنزاً أثرياً، فهي تحوي آلاف الأمفورات (جرار خزفية تاريخية)، وحسب ما ذكرت رئيسة المجلس البلدي في ألونيسوس ماريا أغالو، فإن الحطام موجود على عمق يتراوح بين 21 و28 متراً قرب سواحل جزيرة بيريستيرا ويحوي ما بين 3-4 آلاف جرة.
وقد غرقت هذه السفينة التجارية الضخمة التي كانت تنقل آلاف الجرار سنة 425 قبل الميلاد بسبب عواصف عند عبورها بين شبه جزيرة خالكيذيكي في شمال اليونان وجزيرة سكوبيلوس، على ما أفادت مديرة قسم الآثار تحت الماء باري كالامارا.
وأوضحت كالامارا أن الجرار تكشف الحجم الضخم للسفينة القديمة، ولا تزال غالبية الجرار في حالتها الأصلية بعدما اكتشفها صياد عام 1985.
وسيتم إتاحة زيارة موقع الحطام لهواة الغوص المرخصين من الآن وحتى الثاني من أكتوبر، فيما سيتمكن الأشخاص غير القادرين على الغطس من القيام بجولة افتراضية في المتحف داخل مركز في مدينة ألونيسوس.
